Electronic Poker is a beloved game that is able to be gambled on in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at your house on your computer, through a web account. The game rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best combination of cards possible in order to acquire money. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the enthusiast puts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A five card hand will be "handed out" on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and bettors will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be handed out. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.
Typically, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that discerning bettors are able to pick the most profitable machine each instance.
After the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game give the gambler an opportunity to double their winnings, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations between individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
