Video Poker is a beloved game that can be gambled on in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your PC, using an Internet connection. The regulations are very straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the best combination of cards achievable in order to win cash. In this respect it is very similar as a regular game of poker, apart from the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A five card hand will then be "given out" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and players will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the enthusiast has decided on which cards she would like to retain, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards are given out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.
Typically, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can range from machine to machine, so that discerning enthusiasts are able to choose the most money-making ones each time.
After the first round has completed, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, some styles of the game allow the player a chance to double their winnings, in which case another hand is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing aspects to enhance playability.
